Funny Quote

Support Obama

Hillary Clinton edorsed Obama today.

McCain has a $45MM campaign budget. He has this huge budget because he accepts money from lobbyists & special interests groups. Obama does not.

In order for Obama to campaign the way he needs to, he definitely needs to fundraise. Click here to donate to him: https://donate.barackobama.com/match

The Gym

I went to the gym today. I joined the gym a few mos ago when I joined TNT however, I really never go b/c I had running practices. Now, I'm going back. I really want to do kickboxing classes again. My friend Sarah and I used to k-box years ago and it was fun.

Today, I went and did not do a class but lifted. I am tired already. Erik dropped me off & then went surfing. I took the bus home. Is it wrong not to shower and then get on the bus? The bus wasn't packed and it wasn't like I was drenched in sweat.

Funny Picture

I just re-found this picture of me & Marla. Lord knows what we are laughing at but it is funny. The girls in the background think its funny too though. This is from Halloween 2006.

Smarty Pig

www.smartypig.com

Have you heard of Smarty Pig? It is basically a savings account that has about 3.9% interest comparable to ING. However, you can make your account public and have your friends & family contribute to it. For instance, say you were having a baby, you could make an account for baby stuff or something.

Erik and I are going to start one so we can buy new couches. Something tells me we won't be making it public though for people to contribute. I should start one for people to contribute to Evie's camp tuition. Now that is an expense! Oink.

Netflix vs. Blockbuster

We currently have Blockbuster online but I am thinking of switching to Netflix. We end up spending money on the online and in-store b/c we return the online movies to the store for new ones. I guess with Netflix, I would just have to wait it out to get movies.

Do you have either? Which is better?

Graduation Speech

J.K. Rowling gave the Commencement speech at Harvard. Here is a great part:

Given a time machine or a Time Turner, I would tell my 21-year-old self that personal happiness lies in knowing that life is not a check-list of acquisition or achievement. Your qualifications, your CV, are not your life, though you will meet many people of my age and older who confuse the two. Life is difficult, and complicated, and beyond anyone’s total control, and the humility to know that will enable you to survive its vicissitudes.

And another:

If you choose to use your status and influence to raise your voice on behalf of those who have no voice; if you choose to identify not only with the powerful, but with the powerless; if you retain the ability to imagine yourself into the lives of those who do not have your advantages, then it will not only be your proud families who celebrate your existence, but thousands and millions of people whose reality you have helped transform for the better. We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already: we have the power to imagine better.

Everybody's working for the weekend

This weekend is going to be busy but fun. Tonight I think we are just going to watch movies and do laundry. Tomorrow, we are going to a party at my boss Jenn's house in Oakland. She is getting a Taco Bar and a Margarita Machine! On Sunday, I am volunteering at the finish line of the Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon. It should be exciting. It is also the Haight Street Fair on Sunday!

P.S.

Only Becky & the boys showed up last night. Jesse was playing a show, Danny was cleaning the cleaning products, Stephanie was too busy hiding meth in Mr. Bear, Michelle had amnesia so she forgot to come, and DJ was at the gym trying to lose weight for her pool party. I told Becky to tell them I said hi. I'm going to call Kimmy Gibbler to see if she wants to go next month.

Great Scott!

...was FUN AND FREEZING. People think that CA is warm but SF is cold. Literally last night it was probably 55 out with the wind. We had hats and our ski jackets on. It was fun but would have been more fun had it not been so cold. We brought Evie and she was really good. Except once the movie started, she wouldn't just sit down so she went home about 30 mins into it. We will definitely go again - just bring more blankets!!

I haven't seen Back to the Future in ages. That movie is funny.

Marty McFly: Do you know where Riverside Drive is?
Sam Baines: It's on the other end of town, a block past Maple. East end of town.
Marty McFly: A block past Maple? That's, uh, that's John F. Kennedy Drive.
Sam Baines: Who the hell is John F. Kennedy?

Lou: You gonna order something, kid?
Marty McFly: Ah, yeah... Give me - Give me a Tab.
Lou: Tab? I can't give you a tab unless you order something.
Marty McFly: All right, give me a Pepsi Free.
Lou: You want a Pepsi, PAL, you're gonna pay for it.

Great view before the movie...

I know I look REALLY excited to be pulling Evie but I was trying to get her to sit with me for a picture and she wouldn't. We tried for a few times & it was funny. Mostly because I kept saying 'Evie - come sit with mama. Come on. Come take picture. Who's the baby. Come on. Picture time' Maybe I embarassed her.

Cristin & Me...check out her ski jacket.

Erik all bundled up

Amazing view of SF!

Evie staring at the food we were eating. She wore her sweater too since it was cold.

Are you telling me that you built a time machine... out of a DeLorean?

Alamo Sq Movie Night

Tonight we are going to Alamo Square Movie Night. Alamo Square is a few blocks away and is the home of the famous, 'Painted Ladies' (see picture).

It is also where they filmed the opening of the beloved 'Full House'. We haven't been to movie night yet but it is the first Thursday of every month. We are going to attempt to take Evie but I have a feeling someone will be walking her home within 15 mins of getting there. We'll see.

The Movie tonight is Back to The Future! I hope The Tanners come so we can say hi and catch up. Hopefully DJ is not dieting and falling off treadmills, Jesse & the Rippers have some gigs lined up, and Michelle finally stopped saying 'You got it Dude!'

Two Firsts

Last night we had two firsts with Evie. Just so you know, she has been staying at the end of the bed the past few days during the night. She was all situated & then I turned on the fan. I think that pissed her off. #1 - She VOLUNTARILY got off the bed and made a little nest on the floor of pillows and her blankets. #2 - She woke me up around 4am to go out and go the bathroom.

This dog can hold her potty big time. I really think she was abused when she went the bathroom in the house before we got her. She has pooped in the house a few times but she knows to go in the kitchen. And, she has only done it when she is clearly not feeling well. I was shocked that she woke me up to take her out.

She will also go the bathroom on command sometimes. Normally our walks are Evie walking and me saying, 'Evie Potty' 100xs and she goes. But sometimes I say it and she does it right away. Maybe its just chance. I will continue thinking that she listens to me and goes when I say. ha.

Us as M&M's

I made Erik and I into M&Ms. SO funny. You can do it too at:

http://www.becomeanmm.com/

Erik

The Finale

The finale of the day was that Evie woke us up at 2am because she wanted to lay in between us in the bed. We tried to tell her to go back to the end of the bed but she didn't listen. When Erik tried to pick her up, she wouldn't budge. Finally, she moved. Then she got down and tried to make a nest in the pillows on the floor. Then she wanted to come back up. Apparently, she cannot jump on the bed in the dark so I have to get up and pick her up and throw her on the bed.

We were getting SO annoyed. Now clearly, this is our problem. We created this sneaky sleepy dog. We let her stay on the bed during the day, we let her sleep at the end of the bed, etc.

If this woman came to visit, she would tell us to set boundaries for Evie. We are starting with not letting her on the bed during the day. We've been down this road before. We cave. We are weak. But we need some sleep so we will be figuring this one out!

More excitement than we can handle...

To complete the night, we had an explosion in the kitchen.

I bought a bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper on Sunday, a 2L bottle. I went to pull it out of the fridge and it dropped on the floor, the cap broke off, and soda was spraying EVERYWHERE. I picked it up and put it in the sink while it kept bubbling over. 1)I was sad because now I would only get one glass of the soda 2)I was mad to clean up the mess.

Evie just stared into the kitchen. Erik cleaned up the mess - the soda was on the wall, the blinds in the kitchen, the floor, etc.

This morning, I noticed on the bottle it said, Warning. If this bottle drops, it could cause the cap to break and soda to explode (or something to that affect). Who knew Diet Dr. Pepper bottles was so dangerous.

More Excitement...

Evie and I went to Petco to get her food. She was so excited by me pouring it into her food container that she started eating right out of the container. Also, check out her new collar that has her name & phone # on it.

Yesterday's Excitement

Yesterday, i came home to another pair of shoes bitten by Ms. Evie. She normally does this when she is mad, or home alone too long. However, she had a good morning yesterday of running & snorting with Maybelle. Here is the aftermath:

The best peanut butter EVER

Adam's is the BEST PB ever. It is literally mashed up peanuts with nothing extra. So good.

Evie & Maybelle

Evie has a friend named Maybelle that we see in the park in the mornings. They run and run. They wrestle and Evie never gets crazy and bitey. It is amazing that they play so well together. I put Evie on the short leash and she runs free. This morning she was running and chasing Maybelle so hard that she was snorting. Maybelle's parents said that the best playtime she gets is with Evie. I will have to get a picture of the two friends.

Airport Woes

I am back from Ohio. The wedding was great and I have pictures to post, too. The dress was comfortable & the bridesmaids were nice! The weather was awesome too - sunny & warm.

As for the airport, I made a few observations I wanted to share:

1. People who don't know how to use the check-in kiosks annoy me. Maybe they shouldn't. Maybe I should think - They are older, they probably don't travel much, its new technology, etc. However, it gives you step by step instructions!! It is supposed to make checking in quicker but it makes things longer when people stand there and dont know what they are doing.

2. I flew Northwest which is now charging for 2nd checked bag(but I didn't even check so that was fine) AND they do not accept any bag over 70lbs even if you pay for it! Get ready to start paying for the 1st checked bag on some airlines.

3. Northwest charges you to move your seat if you try to change your seat at check in.

4. I hate that food is so much more expensive at the airport. They know you have to eat. You are trapped so they charge more. I paid almost $8 for a Meal Deal at Subway that I would normally pay $3 for. Oh well. They had Dr. Pepper on tap so that made up for it.

5. The Minneapolis airport is nice and huge and has tons of stores and great book stores.

6. I always like to bring my own blanket on a plane if I know I am going to sleep. I would never touch one of the blankets they pass out on the plane, even if they do sanitize them. Yech. I did think it was funny that on my way home today, there was an empty middle seat in my row. So I was all sorts of stretched out sleeping as if I was on my own couch.

Anyway, nothing too crazy. The flights were fine. I am back in SF and when I got home this AM it was only Noon. I love flying East to West.

Currently Reading....

This hilarious memoir by this author, Jen Lancaster. She has another book called 'Bitter is the New Black' which was good. This book is her story about trying to lose weight after she signed a deal to write her memoir about losing weight. She is funny and writes exactly how it would be if you were talking to her.

Heading to Ohio

Tomorrow I am heading to Cleveland, OH for my friend Megan's wedding. The wedding is on Saturday. She chose great dresses from JCrew that are navy so we really can 'wear them again'. My flight is at 630am tomorrow so the shuttle is picking me up at 430am....ugh! Oh well.

I will be home on Sunday around 11am - the great thing about flying East to West. You gain time. Erik and Evie will have 3 quality days together. Of course, Evie will be Ms. Calm because only one of us is home. She will go to camp and he will go surfing on Saturday.

OK I'll post wedding pics this weekend!

Jon & Kate plus 8

Does anyone else watch this show 'Jon & Kate plus 8'? Its on TLC about a young couple who live in PA. They had twin girls and then wanted one more kid and they had 6 at once. It is just absolutely crazy that they have this many kids. I think the only way they can afford them all is because they get checks from TLC.

It is a cute show though to see how they handle everything. Makes you never want kids though!

Redwood Forest

Here are some pictures from the Redwood Forest. This is where I ran my race earlier in the month. We also stopped at this tourist trap, Drive Through A Redwood! The forest is so beautiful and the trees are massive.
