Weekend

This past weekend was very chill & relaxing. It was just me & Evie hanging out together. We haven't had that much alone time together since Erik was on that old work shift. On Friday, I ordered takeout and watched TV. On Saturday, just did some cleaning, laundry, took Evie for a long walk.


Then, I went out to the East Bay to meet up with my friend Tiffany & we went to the Cheesecake Factory. It was sooooo good. We started with the Buffalo Blasts appetizer, then I had the BBQ Chicken Salad, and took Snickers cheesecake home for dessert.

On Sunday, I met up with my friend Sarah for brunch. We went to Perry's for breakfast and mimosas! The food was mediocre and the service was sub-par :-( We will try another place next time we meet up.


Evie and I just hung around on Sunday and relaxed until Betsy came over for dinner. Then, we picked Erik up at the airport around 11pm. He had a great time and was pretty tired. Hopefully I will get some pics from him to share with you.

Ready for the Weekend!

This week has been very full and I am ready to REST. Evie and I both passed out on the couch last night at probably 9pm. ha. We definitely miss Erik but he is having a wonderful time in Mexico! We can't wait to pick him up on Sunday night.

Work has been pretty good this week and we had a 'Welcome' lunch today at Bix.

I had a delicious lunch of the Chicken Hash. It was like eating a crab cake, but with pulled chicken in it. It was so good!

Tonight, Evie and I are just going to chill out at home. Tomorrow, I'm heading east of the city to have dinner with a friend. Sunday, I'm having brunch with a friend! It should be a fun & relaxing weekend!

Book Review: Pictures of You

I was reading Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and honestly, it is a hard book to read. I am not giving up on it yet but I put it down to read something else.

Based on a recommendation, I read 'Pictures of You'. It's the story of two women who are strangers to one another & get in a car crash. One dies, but her son lives and the other woman lives.

The surviving woman is drawn to learn more about the surviving son & his father. They all live in the same town and she begins to try to find out more about the family.

At the same time, the Father is trying to find out what happened to his wife & if she was living a secret life.

This book was an easy read but I really didn't care for it. The story wasn't that compelling and I didn't think it was a 'mystery' like Amazon will tell you it is. I thought that key info was revealed in chunks and it made for an awkward read. With all of the great books out there, you can probably skip this one!

Movie Reviews: Grey Gardens & You Again

You Again is a cute movie featuring Jamie Lee Curtis and Kristen Bell. Kristen is a total geek in high school and was bullied constantly. After going to college, growing up, and gaining confidence, she returns home for her brothers wedding. When she meets his fiancé, she realizes that she is the girl who bullied her all through high school!

Determined to show the brother the fiance’s true colors, she sabotages the rehearsal dinner and then some.

Turns out that Bell’s mother, Jamie Lee, also had a nemesis in high school who is the fiance’s Aunt.

The movie is predictable and corny but it was a cute movie.

Grey Gardens was actually a show on HBO that aired in 2009 featuring Drew Barrymore & Jessica Lange. Drew actually won a few awards for her role in this film. This is a completely different role for her, than we are used to seeing her play.

I thought this story was strange. It's the story about the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie Onassis (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka "Big and Little Edie") raised as Park Avenue débutantes but who withdrew from New York society, taking shelter at their Long Island summer home, "Grey Gardens." As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality. They were reintroduced to the world when international tabloids learned of a health department raid on their home, and Jackie swooped in to save her relatives.

The fact that they were Jackie O relatives really was a tiny piece of this movie. I felt like that was the reason to watch this movie but it wasn't a strong enough tie-in. It was really a film about two crazy ladies who weren't even that funny; just strange. Skip this one.

First day at the office

I am back in SF. I had a very quick trip to Ohio - a lot of traveling for a short trip. On Monday, I brought Erik to the airport at 6am. Then, I drove myself to the airport at 430am on Tuesday. I arrived in Ohio at 3pm & had a Client dinner at 6pm. I couldn't really sleep on Tuesday night at the hotel, probably due to the time change.

On Wednesday, we were in meetings from 830-230 and then left to go back to the airport. We arrived in SF around 830pm. The ride was pretty bumpy due to strong winds which stunk! I was also late getting Evie but I HAD to get her. I had to see the baby! Oh well, luckily, they were still open and I was able to take her home. She was EXHAUSTED. She had been at camp since Saturday so she was playing hard. I slept well last night but today, I am so tired!

Today is my first day at my new office. I love it! I have an office and I'm in a new neighborhood - a whole new group of people to get to know, new Clients to work on, and a new area to find yummy lunch places! :-)

Birthday Weekend: Sunday

On Sunday, we planned on going to Hearst Castle. First, we did some shopping in Pismo Beach and stopped at the Pismo Pier.








After Pismo Beach, we drove to San Luis Obispo to go to a surf shop. After that, we were planning on going to Hearst Castle however, we ended up changing our plans. We went to Morro Bay instead, for lunch.


Morro Bay was a cute, little town that reminded me of being on Cape Cod.

There was a lot of taffy for sale!


Beautiful! We love living in California. It is so pretty here & we have the opportunity to do little weekend trips like this to see new areas.


For lunch, we went to Rose's Landing. Another great place, right on the water! We had more fish, too. haha.

We left Morro Bay around 230pm to make the drive home. It was great to get home kind of early so that Erik could pack for his trip. What a wonderful weekend!

Birthday Weekend: Saturday

On Saturday, we drove down to Paso Robles. It is about 3 hours south of SF. We stopped in a couple of wineries for wine tastings. Paso Robles is more relaxed and cheaper than Napa, that is for sure!

First up was Red Soles Winery. This place was so cute! It is named Red Soles because the owners stomped their own grapes during the first time they made wine, and the soles of their feet turned red! Now, all of their wines have something to do with shoes or feet. My favorite wine was their white Flip Flop wine! We bought a bottle & got a free Flip Flop coaster with it!


After Red Soles, we took the advice of the Winemaker and headed to Hearthstone. At this winery, we really liked the Lodestone wine & took a bottle home. We even stopped by the farm next store to say hello to the horse!




After Hearthstone, we finished the day at Per Bacco. This was a really casual winery & the tasting area was in the barrel room. They were having a BBQ outside and had appetizers out. We loved the Rosetto wine and also bought a bottle here. haha. I definitely got a lot of wine on this birthday! The great thing was the bottles were sooooo reasonably priced!

After all of the wine, we checked into the hotel and went to dinner. We ended up ditching our reservations and went to a restaurant recommended to us by the hotel staff. This weekend was really all about going on recommendations!


We had a great dinner at Ventana Grill in Pismo Beach. I had the

Tequila Mango Yellow Fin Ahi Tuna: sesame cilantro crust, tequila mango vinaigrette, citrus dressed iceberg wedge and Erik had the Alaskan Halibut & Chips: dos equis battered, potato wedges, horseradish cocktail, lemon caper tartar sauce, chamoy vinaigrette dressed greens.

Everything was so delicious and we had a great table overlooking the water! We had such a wonderful day.

Birthday Weekend: Friday

On Friday night, we went to Umami for sushi. It was delicious!!

We pigged out on Sushi and then afterwards, went to Brickyard for a beer. My how a 31st birthday is verrrrry different from a 21st birthday. haha. We went home by midnight! haha It was a good night with good friends.

What a Week!

We had such a fun weekend!! We went wine tasting, shopping, stayed near the beach, & ate some great food. The weather was wonderful and it was a perfect birthday weekend!

This morning, Erik left for Mexico. He is going on a surfing trip with some of his surfing friends. I think they are going to have an awesome time & I'm so excited he gets to go on this trip. He will be surfing a few times a day. I thought about going but honestly, it's not my type of trip. haha. I love that we have the opportunity to go away separately and together. He will have so much fun!!

I'm going away this week to....to Ohio. Yes, I am starting my new job and my first day on the job is at the Client in Ohio. I am flying out bright & early tomorrow to arrive in time for dinner with my new team and clients. We have meetings on Wed & I fly back to SF. A very quick trip!

Evie is at camp right now and is staying there until Wed night. I miss her!! It is so strange being at home ALL alone! I'm off today to do some errands, cleaning, and pack for the trip. This is going to be quite a crazy week!
