Nightly Visitor

As you know, Erik has worked long & hard on creating his garden on our back porch. He has a ton of stuff growing from herbs, to lettuce, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, lemons, hops, and more.

One crop that is really flourishing is the strawberry plant...






We think the strawberries are doing so well is because it is in a hanging plant and nothing can get to it. We seem to have a nightly visitor who is feasting on the other crops...


Yes, we have a mouse or a little rat that is eating the plants. And, we have seen him. He is gray & unfortunately cute but he is eating for free & gobbling up Erik's hard work. He has literally eaten everything out there:

Sad! I think Erik is going to move the herbs to the window where no one can reach and then plant pepper plants or something, that we know the Mouse/Rat won't touch.

I guess that is city gardening for you! Maybe we should send him across the street to help the chef's cook at the restaurant.

Home Made Chicken Soup

Erik Stewart was at it again this week by making his own home made chicken soup AND NOODLES. That's right people - he made his own noodles for the soup. He said it was really easy - just mix everything in the food processor and roll out the dough. Unreal.


I walked in the house after work and it smelled amazing. I was overexcited to try the soup & of course, burned my tongue. haha.


The colors look funky due to iPhone camera/flash/steam from the soup but I assure you, it was sooooo good!

Sunday Stroll

Sunday was a chill day and Evie and I took a stroll. There were so many pretty flowers & the sun was shining!

Evie loves the tall grass in a section of Buena Vista. She bolts there and wanders through the grass. Then, she proceeds to roll around in it.

She is moving so fast, I could barely catch her photo!

Oh what a night!

Last night, we went out for Betsy's Bachelorette party! We had a lot of fun & got the Bachelorette pretty drunk - Success!!

We started out at dinner at Osha Thai in the Mission.

Movie Review: Taking Chance

Lt. Col Strobl is a Marine who no longer fights in combat. Handling internal meetings and presentations, he feels compelled to be more involved in the Marines again.

He volunteers to accompany the body of a 19 year old Marine who was killed. He flew with his body to Wyoming, meets his family & friends, and sees how the people around him react to his voluntary role.

This film is based on actual events and is an HBO movie. It was sad but also interesting to see how respectful the military is of bringing a soliders body home and how people react to hearing or seeing this in action.

Hang Ten

A while back, Erik had a surfboard made for him by a famous, local surfer, Marc Andreini. Erik took the surfboard with him to Mexico and someone got a shot of him surfing on the board. Well, Erik sent the photo to Marc to show himself riding the board he made. Turns out, Marc PUT THE PHOTO ON HIS BLOG.


This is awesome because Marc is famous in the surfing world. So fun that Erik got to be on his blog. I also asked Erik to write a guest post so we can share his trip to Mexico with everyone.

Ga-Lin-DAH

Something has changed within me.
Something is not the same.


Well, I'm not off to the Western sky but I have noticed something recently. This week has been so insane at work & I have been working a LOT. I have been so tired in the AM and not working out. After two days of not working out, I felt like 'Ohmygod, if I do not go out & run, I am going to go crazy'. That is definitely a new feeling. I think I am starting to get used to it, which is definitely a good thing.

So, I got out there for a run & used my new Nike iPod running sensor. I was feeling great and hustling through my run! Then, I looked at the Nike data at the end of the run & it said I ran......a 14 minute mile. Give me a break!! I did not run that slow.

Grrrrrr. I don't think this thing calibrates properly or something. I am going to try to get it to work otherwise, I'd really like to get a Garmin watch. Next race is when KIMMY comes to visit on May 21st - Sweatin' for Sammy 5K!

Square Meals

We had our first meal delivery of Square Meals last night and it was delicious!! First of all, the meal was delivered to me at work. No racing home to meet the delivery at a certain time.

The food arrived with a menu & cooking preparations:

So yummy & I will definitely order again from this company. Look at what we can order for next week!

Erik's Delicious Dinner

The other night, Erik made a delicious dinner and he used his own beer to make a part of the meal!

He used this awesome book to make a BBQ sauce out of his Porter beer. He put the BBQ sauce on tuna steaks and grilled them on the stove.


He also made us Foccacia Bread - DELISH.

With a side of arugula from the garden, our meal was ready. Everything was delicious!! I have to say I was a little skeptical at first of the BBQ sauce but it was awesome!

Local Chef

We are trying something out this week - getting dinner from a local chef. There are a lot of local chefs here who you can purchase meals from & they deliver to your home. They create a menu, you pick off of the menu & have dinner waiting for you when you get home.

By the time we get home from work, walk Evie, & make dinner, it's already 9pm. I hate eating that late! So, we are trying a chef from this new website - Munchery.com This website corrals all of the local chefs into one spot for you to browse their menus. You can pick out a meal or several and they will deliver to you.


For Wednesday, we are trying Chef Alison Munford from Square Meals. We ordered the

Coriander, Herb, and Panko Crusted White Fish With Apple and Squash Compote, Moroccan Spiced Carrots & Wild Rice Blend. She is going to deliver right to me at work. How perfect!! While trying out this site, I got a $10 credit AND free delivery. Now those are two awesome things to give me a reason to try this out.

I'll let you know how the food is!

Fun in the Sun

This weekend has been so nice. On Friday, we met up with Betsy & Greg for a beer and then Erik & I had dinner at Ziryab. We had falafel wraps which is exactly what I wanted!!

On Saturday, I went for a run and we took Evie on a long walk to Hayes Valley. This is the farm where Erik planted some crops. He planted Hops for his beer brewing and goes every other day to water them!



This is a community garden where people plant crops and you can also get food here such as lettuce, etc.

We stopped in Alamo Sq on our walk home and Evie was rolling around, enjoying the sun!


We also did the laundry & I went downtown to use some coupons that were going to expire & it was Friends & Family at Macy's! I also went to Apple and got the Nike running sensor for my shoe. With the app on my iPhone and the sensor, I can start tracking mileage, mile time, etc. I can't wait to use it!



Later on, our friends Tiffany & Brett came into the city. We had plans go back to Hayes Valley for dinner. However, when they arrived, Erik started pouring homebrews. Our plan changed to getting something a little closer so we went to get burgers at Acme Burgerhaus. Love that place - $2 beers until 10pm!!

We came back to the house and had more homebrews. We just chilled out and had fun. The boys got a litttttttle tipsy. haha

Evie was amazing last night. She LOVES Tiffany & Brett. She ran up to them when she saw them outside, she lets them pet her, & she wants to play with them all night long. I think she knows they are Dog people.

Royal Wedding

I DVR'ed the Royal Wedding and watched some of it on Friday night. I have three favorite things from the wedding.

3. Pippa's Dress

I love Pippa's dress!! It is simple & elegant. I do think it's strange the bridesmaid wore white but maybe that is British tradition or something. Maybe they will make a knock-off of Pippa's dress for the commoners to buy!

Bonus thing I loved from the wedding....the fact that they sang the British National Anthem at the wedding. I mean, why didn't I think of that!! I think we will have everyone sing the USA National Anthem at our wedding. :-)
