Weekend

I was very happy when Friday rolled around. It was a busy week & I was ready to relax. On Friday, I met Tiffany & Brett out in North Beach for a beer. They were in the city for a friends birthday party so it was fun to meet up with them. We went to bars that I have seen/walked past a hundred times but have never been to: Vesuvio & Kell's.


Vesuvio is an old hangout of author, Jack Kerouac. It is right next to City Lights Bookstore, an equally famous bookstore in SF. This bar was cool - it was "very SF" in that it was kind of an old bar, small, cash only, and had a chill vibe.

Kell's was pretty fun & they had a U2 cover band, as well. I've heard that this place can get crazy and that the basement is like a frat party. We stayed out of the basement and the upstairs was not crowded at all. It was fun to see those guys and kick-off the weekend.

On Saturday, Erik did something fun with his friend Andrew. They made a Paipo aka a body board, for us common folk.

Unfortunately on Saturday, the cold I was starting to feel kicked in. Boooo! I have not been sick in sooooooo long!

Murphy's Law

I've decided that I want to try to get Evie to camp once a week, during the week. This will require us to get up a little early and drive down to camp. I've decided to do this since it's easier to drive to my new office, parking is cheaper, plus if I stay past a certain hour, work will pay for the parking. Evie will get out of the house and get to play!

So, last week, I drove her down to camp and the traffic was horrendous. I thought, this seems a little much for 7am traffic. Turns out, there was a equally horrendous accident.

The day I chose to bring Evie to camp was also a day I had to be at work at 830 for an internal meeting. I had planned the dropoff and return time so that I would be at the office before 830. Well, that did not happen!

Thankfully, I got Evie to camp and could take a different route to work and was only late by 15 min. Plus, I was able to call work and let them know so everything was fine. It just goes to show no matter how much planning ahead you do, sometimes things happen that you cannot control!

Restaurant Review: Globe

We recently hired someone new at work and took them out for their 'Welcome Lunch'. We went to a restaurant near our office, Globe. Globe has a cool, industrial feel inside with exposed brick and pipes.

We went for lunch around 1pm and started with the Mushroom & truffle oil pizza. For lunch, I ordered the Wild Coho Salmon on boccacino pasta, rapini, aglio e olio, salsa verde. It was a nicely cooked piece of salmon over pasta. It was just OK.

The pasta was like long pasta noodles, which was a little strange. The salmon was pretty nice but overall, the dish was just ok.

Everyone else ordered Nicoise salad and loved theirs. I might try that if I ever went back. Overall, it was OK, but nothing I would recommend. The service was great though!
