Bottle Rock

On Friday, we drove up to Napa for the Bottle Rock festival. We went to a specified parking lot and got free parking thanks to our passes. We went in a special little shuttle bus over the concert. We scanned our tickets for these special VIP passes. 

We went over to the festival and there were a ton of food and drink vendors and three big stages for the shows. 

For those about to rock, we salute you!

 We got up there around 6 so we only saw a bit of the Flaming Lips and Black Keys. 

We only stayed until 9pm. It was SO crowded and it was just too much. There was a VIP section next to the Black Keys stage with a private bar and bathroom. Unfortunately, the bathroom was overflowing so we couldn't use that. We left and couldn't get back into the VIP area at all because it was so packed.

I really hate being in big crowds like that and start to feel panicky when people are crowding me and bumping into me so we moved to the back of the pack of people watching the band. I don't really understand why people think this is better than just listening to the band on spotify. Both Erik and I were like, lets go home and get on the couch where we belong. haha.

We're grateful for winning the tickets and having the opportunity to go to the festival but it wasn't our scene.

On Saturday, I gave my passes to my friend Kira so I hope she enjoyed herself!

Mary Poppins!

Last night, Amy and I saw Mary Poppins on stage at the Orpheum Theatre in SF. 

It was super cute and full of high energy songs!

We had Orchestra seats which were awesome!

The paparazzi got us on the red carpet... haha

The stage show is actually a combination of the Mary Poppins books (didn't know those existed). and the Disney movie. So, the show was not exactly like the movie but it was still good! Amy and I were so tired by the end of the show. We were saying that we need to go to Sunday matinee shows from now on. haha

My favorite character was Bert. He was so charming and funny.

On Saturday, we were driving home from the beach, listening to the radio. The radio station was giving away tickets to a 4 day concert festival in Napa. All you had to do was text in to try to win so I gave it a shot. I texted a few times and got a response that....I WON!

Cinco de Mayo

On Sunday, Cinco de Mayo, we went to our friend Andrea's house for her birthday party! There were tacos, lots of guacamole, margaritas, and not one but TWO pinatas!

First, there was this lovely pinata made by Kim out of paper mache. You see the front half of the donkey was in the front of the pinata and the back of the donkey was on the other side. haha.

Three Amigos

There were a bunch of dogs there including this ADORABLE puggle. Her name? Lindsay Wagner named after the actress. haha. She was SO friendly and let everyone pet and cuddle her. I want one!!

Fun day at the party. It was a Sunday so we kept in check with the partying but there was a full on dance party and the margaritas were still flowing when we left at 9pm!

Family Beach Day

Yesterday, it was HOT here - in the 70's or 80's. Shorts, t-shirts, flip flops, and sunny! Evie was laying on the deck panting and having to come in after a little while. Erik wanted to go surfing so we decided to go with him so we could all go to the beach!

 First up, protect our skin! haha

Evie and I decided to go on a trail walk while Erik was in the water. It was pretty hard in the heat so we only did about half of it and then went in the water.

She loved the water. She loves going in any type of body of water! She was running and also just standing there, letting the waves hit her. So cute. The water was COLD. It was about 55 degrees so my feet were freezing!

We also waded into these tide pools and found...

....a real, live starfish!! We saw a few of them actually. 

Ready to head home. She was so tired.

It was May 4th yesterday aka Star Wars Day. 

Good thing Erik had the right shirt to celebrate!

We had a lot of fun at the beach. It was warm and fun to just run around.

Travel Woes

Yesterday was a LONG day of travel. My flight was supposed to leave at 4pm and get me to SF by 6pm. I ended up leaving at 8pm and home by 10pm.

For my original flight, everything was going smoothly. We boarded on time, got all situated on the plane, and then waited. The Captain came on to say that they had to re-install the plane computer software and it would be 20 min. Then, he said it would be an hour. Due to that rule that you have to feed everyone if they are on the plane waiting for over 2 hrs, they deplaned us and passed out food vouchers.

Sitting in the waiting area, they announced we weren't leaving until 7pm. I quickly hopped on the Delta App to see what other flights I could get on. There was one at 7:45. I quickly thought about how that flight could get me home but if the original flight truly left at 7, I would be waiting another 45 min. But....what if my original flight didn't leave at 7 and I was stuck at the airport for even longer. 7:45 it was. I made the switch and moved to the other gate.















My new flight gate quickly became full of passengers on standby from the original flight. SO thankful that I acted fast and rebooked myself rather than waiting on standby!! I felt so bad for some people because the original flight is a connector to SF which went on to Honolulu. Imagine starting your vacation like that or worse, getting to your vacation a day late since you were stuck!? Grrrrr.

I landed at 10pm after sitting on a packed flight for 4 hr and hopped in a cab to get home. I have never been so grateful to be home. Evie greeted me at the door and all was right in the world again.

Glad I won't be doing that trip again for awhile!

Almost done

So this HUGE car, is my car for the week. My company is so awesome and has a few cars that they own and loan out to visitors instead of having us rent cars. They have a variety of cars and one of them is "The Suburban." Yesterday, had a few of us ride in it to the office but I drove it back to the hotel by myself.I also got to drive it by myself to and from work today. haha It is SO Funny driving this HUGE car!!

Is anyone watching this Amanda Knox interview? I don't know what to believe about this girl. I don't get why her friend would sort of say it could've been her and why she was a suspect before he even said that.

Tonight, I went to dinner with a co-worker at the Oak City Grille. Had the lemon chicken & it was so good. You know you aren't in CA anymore when they serve you TWO chicken breasts for your dinner.


I am SOOOOO happy to be heading home tomorrow!! I cannot wait to see Erik & Evie. I know it's only been a few days but I cannot wait to be home, in my own bed, and back to a normal schedule. Yippeeeeeeeee!

Hello from Michigan

Hello from Michigan. It was a long day and I am so ready for bed despite it only being 5:30PT. I didn't sleep that well because I'm sure I was worried about not getting up in time. It was also warm. We definitely need a fan in our room at night.

I was up before 6 and Erik dropped me at Bart for 6:30. It's about an hour train ride to SFO and it was so easy. If we didn't have to drop Evie off at camp before we travel, we would totally take Bart every time. It was only $9 from Berkeley, too!

My flight was 4 hours but I watched a movie and read some magazines. Also, we had no one in the middle seat which is a huge score! The movie today was Parental Guidance and was soooo predictable and annoying but cute towards the end. Bette and Billy are legends and have great chemistry. I wasn't feeling the same about Marisa Tomei and that guy from "That Thing You Do."

I got picked up at the airport and came over to the hotel. I went to the hotel gym to shake off sitting for 4+ hours today. Room service and "Love It or List It" on HGTV rounds out the evening. Erik is taking care of Miss Evie tonight and then tomorrow, bringing her to camp so we all get a vacation for two days. Then, we will be reunited on Thursday night. Yahooooooooo!

Sunday Wrap Up

This morning, it was so hard to get up for all of us. I think we finally go up around 9am, which is late for me and Evie. We lounged around the house and then went over to the park. This weekend, we also got some other little things done like organize the cabinets. 

Don't mind the two boxes of ramen. That is part of our emergency kit. hahaha

Figured out a way to house all of these one off granola/energy bars, single snacks of stuff so that made me happy!

I got flowers and planted in my flower box. 

We made watermelon and mint juice. We have mint in the garden so we put that in there and it was SO good!

 In the garden, we are starting to see some strawberries.....

 And tomatoes....All thanks to Erik's green thumb!

Well, I'm off to the great state of Michigan for the week and Erik is manning the fort. We all know how much I love travelling for work but this time, I actually don't mind that much. I have some pals at our other office that I'm going to see and no clients to see so that's nice!
