Chinese Gymnasts

FINALLY!

According to a new report, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed on Thursday that it has asked the International Gymnastics Federation to investigate the Chinese gymnastics underage fiasco, following new evidence that at least two gymnasts competed under the legal age in the Olympics.

Evidence unearthed by a hacker has apparently helped the IOC to finally see the light.

Philippe Filacci, Head of Media Operations for Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique, who's presently in Beijing for the Olympics, confirmed that he was aware of the new evidence and said, "We are investigating it."

They should have investigated the underage allegations when they came up BEFORE the Olympic women's gymnastics tourney even started!! (perezhilton.com)

Getting Old

So our cable has been flickering. Sometimes its fine & other times the picture flips and its annoying. We checked the connections & everything is tight so I dont know what it is. Erik keeps saying he has to call the cable company. The other night, it was doing it again. Erik goes 'Damn Cable. I'm going to have to call that company and get them over here to look at this. I'm sick of it.' I just laughed and Erik said, I sounded like an old man right there, didn't I?

Text & Learn

Did you sign up yet to receive a text when Obama chooses his VP? This is pretty advanced for a Pres campaign. No candidate has offered this option before. Obama also has a Blackberry. I think McCain thinks that is a fruit.

Evie

Erik called me at work today to say that Evie puked twice and has diarrhea. I came home and she was a poop machine outside. Then, I went for the run, and she took my lunch bag out of my work bag and ate some cheese. She promptly barfed that up on the rug. She had chicken and rice for dinner to try to calm her stomach down. She will be fine. I think we need a new rug, again.

Running

OK so I am getting serious (for real) about training for this Half b/c it is like 6 weeks away and I have not been running. I emailed my TNT coach and was like - Lets get serious here. Can I really run a Half in 6 weeks and he said Yes. He said, get out there and run and do it. Just do it.

In college, I had a saying - The saying came out when you had like 24 hours to do a paper. The saying is 'No gettin' around this one'. Its like the end of the line. Its go time. Its no turning back. And really, there's no gettin' around this one. I told Bailey & Erin & Erik I would do the Half so I am doing it.

Anyway, I ran tonight - just to get out there. I felt crappy. My calves and ankles and feet hurt. My calves and ankles were tight. My feet ached. I think my feet ache bc all I wear is flats. I hope this flats thing doesnt backfire on me. Also my left shoulder is acting up again. Maybe I just have to get the kinks out. I always feel better like 2 miles in....I'll keep trying b/c there's no gettin' around this one.

Amy's Birthday

I went out with Amy & some friends last night for her birthday dinner. We went to Zuppa in SOMA and had a good time!

Swimming

Yesterday, I went to Sports Basement to check out the TRI clothes. Just to see how much all of this equipment will cost me. There were more people than usual in the swimming section looking at Speedos and Goggles. I think the Olympics got everyone fired up to swim. I bet you YMCA memberships go up this week.

5 MIles

Tried to run 5 miles yesterday up at Crissy Field. I went down 2.5 and on the way back 2.5 felt horrible. It felt like my legs are full of lead and it was also super windy. It was also like 4pm. I am a mid-morning runner, not later in the day. According to my schedule, I need to be up to 6 miles next week. I gotta get with it. I am going to do another 5 on Tuesday and have to find time to do another 5 this week. What I really need is to run around 8am, and go to work at 10. Hmmmm.

Playground

On Saturday AM, my friend Amy & I helped to clean up Joe DiMaggio playground in North Beach. We had to shovel sand into wheel barrows(sp?) and spread it around the playground. I did the shoveling for about oh 15 minutes and then was tired. Today, my biceps and shoulder are so sore. But I finished out the volunteering with the sand spreading.

I went to spinning tonight. I was having a debate in my head on whether to go or not. Some days its so hard to work out. But, I went. It was hard, I sweat. I felt happy that I went.

Sore

I am so sore from that core class yesterday. I wish I was a Y member so I could go swimming because doing any other type of exercise is painful. Its pretty much painful to squat down or pick anything up or lift my arms over my head!!

Work Out

4:40am - Time I woke up this AM and walked over to the alarm clock because I thought it was going off. It wasn't

5:45am - Time the alarm clock went off for me to go outside and run. I didn't go

6:40am - Time I got up to get ready for work

11:50am - Time I walked over to the gym, during lunch, and took a Core Central Class. Oh yeah!

Like I said in a previous post, I really trying to get stronger for this Half Marathon training for October which includes core work. I really wanted to go to this class so I packed everything the night before & went. I'm so glad I did. The class was hard. It was 45 min of non-stop stepping, punching, kicking, lunging all while holding weights. My arms were shaky afterwards. I probably won't be able to walk tomorrow. But, it was worth it.

Annoyed

This weekend the amount of people in this city annoyed me. There are a ton of tourists here since its summer. We were up on Haight St to go to one store and everyone was walking so slow. The sidewalks were packed. I was so annoyed. Then, yesterday, I drove Erik to work & he works in Fisherman's Wharf. Now, that is a nightmare down there. People are walking everywhere and in the streets & they don't have a clue. Then, I had to drive down to the Mission to go to Petco and people couldn't drive. I needed to go home & take a nap.

Today, I was thinking that I really shouldn't be annoyed. Maybe I should just realize that I live in a big city that is a tourist destination.

WWRPD? He would so many people want to come see & visit SF for a short time b/c its so great. Luck you, you get to live there. Maybe you should appreciate it.

Bus, Again

This morning, we had the 'Move to the Rear of the Coach' bus driver. The bus was packed, again. This guy tried to get in the back door & she yelled 'Don't you even think about getting on back there'. He comes up to the front door & said, 'This is ridiculous, every other bus driver lets you get on back there when it's crowded. I have a pass. Give me a break'.

She says 'You give me a break. I'm sorry you have an attitude.'

Letter to the Homeless & People who Picnic

Dear Homeless People & People who picnic in the park,

When you are sitting in the Panhandle enjoying your fried chicken or ribs, kindly do not leave them in the grass. There are multiple trash cans around the park. It's not that hard to put them in there. When you leave them in the grass, dogs love to find them & eat them. When they eat them, there is a good chance the bone could rip their stomach or get caught in their throat. Now, I'm sure YOU won't be paying the vet bill when that happens. So next time you want to toss the bones on the grass, think twice or maybe us dog owners will start leaving our dog shit all over the park so you accidentally step or sit in it. Wouldn't that be nice?

Recycle Bag

On Saturday night, I pulled the recycle bag out of the cabinet b/c it was full and ready to go downstairs to the trash. We went out on Sat night and came home to the contents of that bag ripped apart all over the living room. Are we going to learn our lesson or what?!

Lunchbag

As you may know, Evie doesn't like when we come home for about 2 hours and then leave her again. So, on Friday, I came home for 3 hours and then left her. I came home to find the contents of my lunchbag in the living room. Lucky her, I didn't eat that lunch that day so she got to eat it.

She pulled the lunchbag out of my work bag, opened up the plastic container and ate the bun. She opened the little plastic wrapper of the veggie burger, ate that. Pulled the cap off of the ketchup bottle and chewed that.

When I got home, she knew she shouldn't have done it. She was wiggling her entire body around the room. I didn't yell at her or anything. I mean, I shouldn't have left the bag on the floor. It was pretty funny though.

Pool

Last month, I posted a blog about my gym having a pool. I as at the Petco near that gym today, so I went to check it out. Just by looking at it, it grossed me out. I went home and Yelp'ed it and here are the shiteous reviews it is getting:

I love a good workout, but the thought of having to exercise at this dump makes me feel ill sometimes. It is filthy.

If you do have to work out at this location, stick to the weight machines and cardio equipment; the free weights are old and rusty...don't even think of stepping into that pool...

The smell inside is beyond putrid, and the pool is even worse - the one time I swam in it, my silver jewelry that I always wear turned completely jet black from the dirty water.

The geriatric pool smells awful and leaves a grimy sensation on my skin. Attempting to get any kind of a work-out here is utterly futile. There is way too much chilling in the pool and people getting in your way.

I can't swim there. Before even looking on Yelp, I felt gross. I'm checking into the Y.

Bus this AM

The bus this morning was packed. We had the driver that says 'Move to the rear of the Coach'. She wouldn't leave the stop until everyone was 'behind the yellow line'. She kept asking people to move back but no one could move. Then, she skipped stops and got on this microphone thing saying to the people waiting on the street 'My coach is full. You must get on the next coach' It was pretty funny but it was also annoying. This one guy said, 'This is exhausting me before I even get to work'.

Spinning

Per my workout plan, I went spinning tonight. I did NOT want to go to the gym, but I forced myself. It was pretty hard. My arms were shaky when I left. I was sweating and had a red face.

But, I felt glad that I went. The instructor loooooved talking in her microphone and kept saying 'come on guys,' 'push,' dig', come on, dig deep.

3D Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton is working on remaking Lewis Carroll's classic fairy tale Alice in Wonderland into a 3-D film.

The flick would be released some time in 2010.

Plans are for the movie to be live action until Alice jumps down the rabbit hole and her adventure begins.

Alice will be played by Aussie actress Mia Wasikowska from HBO's In Treatment.

Neither Disney nor Depp have confirmed the reports, but we have a feeling he might do it.

Sweater

Yes, I have a sweater on. Its August. Its 57 out. Apparently Sept/Oct are going to be our warmer 'summer' months. This weather is great in the winter. When the rest of the country is freezing and stuck in snow, its still 60-65 here and sunny! I don't mind wearing sweaters when it's 'summer'. I discussed having a uniform the other day & I realized I pretty much have one. Pants, short sleeve shirt with a jacket or cardigan over it. It works for when its cold or gets warm!

Runway tonight was pretty funny. I love that the blonde tanorexic kid said 'Holla atcha boy' to Tim. Then, Tim was saying it and he sounded so stiff & funny.

Book Review: Friday Night Knitting Club

I just finished the Friday Night Knitting Club. It was a good story about a group of women unlikely to be friends brought together by the knitting club they are in. They all go through many changes but realize they are real & close friends. I recommend it!
