San Diego

Today, I am flying down to San Diego for a wedding. It will be a mini college reunion. The wedding is for my friend & sorority sister, Kirsten. Three other Thetas will be down there, too. We are going to go out tonight, beach & wedding tomorrow. Then, I fly home early on Sunday. The flight is about 1.5 hours, if that. I love flying in CA - it's so quick!

Taking full advantage of Sunday Streets taking over Golden Gate Park, David Miles, the “Godfather of Skate” is presenting a morning full of free rollerskating lessons and a free roller rink with 100 free rentals. To top it off, skaters will perform a Thriller Dance and tribute to Michael Jackson skate dance demo from 12:30 to 1:30p.

Crazy Week

After being away all weekend, this week seems messed up. I was in work Mon/Tues and it was so busy. Today we worked from home. Tomorrow, at work & Friday, work from home. I am working from home because I have a MD appt on Fri AM and then am flying out on a 6pm flight on Fri to San Diego.

I never went food shopping this week. Mistake. I have been buying coffee, lunch. I always try to make my own coffee, lunch, etc.

Anyway, this week is going well except for that stupid guy that I have to work with. He apologizes to me about 5x a day for f-ing things up. I basically am doing all the work myself b/c he is incompetent. That sucks for me but I do not trust him & I'd rather have the work be right/on time than let him do any work.

Our boss told our Director it's time to move him off the team. We'll see what happens. I can't stand him! Even our boss & my coworker Lauren say he is a waste of time and too much work, etc. - Same complaints as me. Ridiculous!

Bulldog Boxer Pals

Tonight, we saw some of Evie's pals in the park. I am convinced Evie is a bulldog, boxer, pit mix. She was playing with two english bulldogs (Cash & Marley), her white boxer friend Jasper, a new boxer named Olive, and a mastiff tonight. When they all get together they all look a like! Boxers are SO freaking adorable. I loooove boxers & Frenchies. Speaking of Frenchies, we saw her buddy Bruce this afternoon. He picked up a pacifier that someone left in the park. His owner says, oh man - he loves pacifiers. I was dying. Bruce is huge Frenchie with a freaking pacifier in his mouth - too much!!

Evie is famous

Evie loves to hang out the window. She watches what is happening on the street, watches people, and notifies us when people are sketchy. The other day, i saw a woman taking a picture of Evie. She was like, 'Look at that dog hanging out the window'. And was snapping away. I thought, hmmm I wonder how many other people have done that. Is Evie in someone's scrapbook? So funny but strange!

Erik was walking her the other day & a girl was like, Is that Evie? The girl knew her from camp. So funny. I do the same thing. I don't know the person but I know the dog and I say, 'is that so and so'. It's odd but a widely accepted practice here.

Book Review: Julie & Julia

I am finishing the book, Julie & Julia. It was really cute! As you may know, this is coming out as a movie on Friday! This book was written by a girl named Julie. She is a real person who decided a few years ago to make every recipe in Julia Child's cookbook in one year. And, she blogged about it. She suffered through many recipes but some also came out great. I can't wait to see the movie!. I recommend this book. It is heartwarming and will make you want to go out & try something new!

Tuesday Dinner

Tonight, we went to a little place near our house called Metro Cafe. This place recently changed names/menus to it's current name/menu. The menu was sort of strange. It had spaghetti, mac& cheese, and then pork, salmon, etc.

I had the salmon with asparagus. It was pretty good. Erik had the rice & eggplant dish and he did not like it. :-( Sadly, we won't be back here. Oh well, it was nice to get out and be together!

Weekend Recap: Sunday

Although I flew down to LA, we drove home. From Santa Barbara to SF is about 6 hours. However, we mad the trip last about 10 hours because we stopped along the way. It is a beautiful drive with lots to see.

First up - We did some winery hopping.

First Stop - Blackjack Winery. This winery was featured in the movie 'Sideways'. The owners are very proud of this and had a lot of memorbilia up. Unfortunately, their wine was not that great.




Next - Firestone. You may remember that Bachelor Andrew Firestone was associated with this winery. However, we learned that his family sold it about 2 years ago. So, we didn't get to see him. I mean, not like he would be working the tasting room or anything!

Last winery stop. This was in a town along the way called San Luis Obispo. We chose to stop here because the labels on the wine are tie dyed. haha. Its called the Kelsey See Canyon Winery. It was strange.








This winery was strange because it was small and stuffed with junk. It was like being in someones living room. They had a lot of peacock stuff for sale. They did serve wine that was half apple juice, half wine which was pretty good!

We also stopped at Pismo Beach to take a look.









Finally, after a stop at the outlets, we really headed home. We saw some crazy clouds. They were thick & looked like whipped mashed potatoes. So crazy.



And, that was our weekend! We had a lot of fun, saw a lot, did a lot, and had a great time!

Weekend Recap: Saturday

On Saturday, we went to downtown Santa Barbara where they have a great outdoor mall called Paseo Nuevo. They have a ton of stores. We also visited some Presidio buildings that are right downtown. These are the oldest buildings in SB!

After touring SB, we went back to the hotel and went in the pool. It was sunny & in the 80's. We also got a 12 pk of Coors Light and created our own swim up bar!







I wish I had more exciting pics from Sat night. However, we were SO tired. We were in bed asleep by like 10:30. However, we did make it out for awesome mexican food for dinner. Sunned, stuffed, and tired is a great way to end the day!!
