Foggy Friday

On Friday, it was foggy allll day. I really hate our foggy summers. Erik apparently loves them and always tries to remind me of our warm-ish winters but it doesn't work for me. I hate being bundled up and in the fog all "summer." Anywayyyyy, I guess we made the best of it because we got some yummy food and beer on Friday. 

First, we met at Off The Grid for some food truck food. Erik picked up some Ramen soup. 

 I got garlic noodles and lemongrass chicken skewer which was deeeelish!

 After our food truck dinner, we went over to the Taste of Belgium. It was a beer festival that was free to attend and you could buy food & beer tickets inside.

 It was hosted by Stella so only Leffe, Stella, and Hoegarden were on tap. I had a Leffe blonde which was really good. It almost had a creamy taste to me. Erik had a Leffe Brown and a Leffe blonde.

 There was a live band there, a beer pouring seminar, and lots of food. It was a good event with a nice set up.

 We left around 8pm and the sun was still hanging around under the fog. There are always good views up there!

We headed home because we had to get up bright and early for our TNT run on Saturday!

Alcatraz Challenge

This is going to be Erik on July 22nd.

Yes, he is going to participate in the Alcatraz Challenge where he will swim from Alcatraz to shore. How crazy is that!? He is a good swimmer and gets a ton of practice surfing so I'm sure he will be fine...

I will be the nervous one on the shore waiting for him to come in! We'll keep you posted on his adventure!

Magic Sunday

Sunday morning, I got up again bright and early, to run a 5K with TNT. Yep, we ran 5 miles on Saturday and another 3 on Sunday. I really wasn't feeling like doing the run. It was foggy & cool out and I was a little tired from the run.

Erik had plans to go up to Bolinas to surf so I was on my own to decide to go! Since I had already signed up, I decided to go.

The run was thru Golden Gate Park and I ran it in about 32 min. I could have gone faster but I was tired from the day before. I KNOW I will break 30 min this year!! Here are some shots from the run:

After the race, I chilled with Evie and then headed to the movies to see....Magic Mike. haha. It was pretty funny at times but also pretty lame.

After Erik came home, we had dinner and he made us some watermelon juice. It was soooooooo good!

So we started the weekend with some crazy news about Evie, had some good running and good times!

Ferry Building Saturday

We had another great weekend, despite Evie's news. On Friday, we met friends out at Blur for a few drinks.

On Saturday, we got up nice and early for our TNT Team Run. We headed up to the marina to Crissy Field and ran out to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was so foggy that we could not even see the bridge! We ran 5 miles on Saturday Am and it was a tough run. Don't forget, you can donate to us here!

For lunch, we headed down to the Ferry Building where there is a weekly Farmer's Market and food tents. We had a YUMMY lunch. The Ferry building is awesome - it has a ton of upscale restaurants and foodie shops. Whatever you want to eat, it is here. It's right on the water and on a sunny day like we had, the views are great and it's nice to sit outside.

 After lunch, we headed home and crashed on the couch. We were tired from our run! For dinner, we made some salmon and stayed in for the night. Good Saturday!

Breaking News

On Friday, I dropped Evie off at the Vet in the AM so they could look at her when they had a chance. I was a nervous wreck all day thinking about her, googling what was wrong with her, and waiting for them to call me. Finally, at 5pm,our  I walked over to the Vet and got the diagnosis.

Evie tore her CCL aka her ACL aka the major tendon in her knee.

She is hobbling around when she walks; prefers to run/skip instead of walk. She needs surgery. :-(

This surgery is going to be a long road for us all. It is going to be expensive, it is going to take her awhile to recover, and we all have to be patient. This is our poor, baby, Evie May, and we will do whatever it takes to make her better.

We are seeing a specialist in Mill Valley (north of SF) at the end of the month with the hopes of getting scheduled for surgery in early August.

Our summer is changing big time. We had a lot of plans that can't happen now, a lot of overnights that will become day trips, and having fun exploring our own city. In some ways, I wonder if this is a way to make us all slow down and chill out a little bit. I am also grateful that my new company is super flexible and understanding and will allow me to take time off/work from home to be with Evie.

Well, you know what they say about best laid plans! We'll keep everyone posted!
