Inspiration Dinner

Tonight, we went downtown for the Team In Training Inspiration Dinner. This is something that takes place the night before a race so that everyone can get together for a big pasta dinner but also reconnect with the cause that we all fundraised so hard for. The dinner was great!

The Emcee was hilarious! He opened with saying something about how "...I see you all piling your plates high with pasta and I just want to remind you that this is not your last meal. You can eat again tomorrow after the race!" haha Apparently he is a writer for Runner's World!
Only 1% of people in the world have ever run a marathon. Unbelievable that Erik will be a part of that 1%!!

This girl was actually on our run team this year. She had cancer in college, got a bone marrow transplant, found out who her donor was, and THEY ARE RUNNING NIKE TOGETHER. How amazing is that!!

When we got home, we finalized everything for the AM including laying out everything we needed to bring with us, what to wear, and eat before the race.
I got fun, pink sparkly letters to put on my shirt. We all had our names on our shirt because this way, when spectators see you coming, they can yell your name!
As for tomorrow, we'll see how it goes. We have run this course in pieces but the hills are killer. We know the start could be slow because there are 25,000 runners. There WILL be areas where it could be slow due to the amount of runners. Overall, it should be a great experience and an emotional, fun race. We have come so far together & we can't wait!!

Getting Ready...

This week was all about getting ready for the Nike Marathon TOMORROW!!! On Thursday, we headed down to Union Square to pick up our Nike Race bibs. There was a great expo tent where we picked up our race bibs and a bag of goodies.

 Expo Tent
 Love This
Lots of great Nike stuff, a DJ played, there were clothing companies, food samples....
 Team LUNA!
Probably the best thing in the whole welcome pack was the Somersault Snacks. They are made out of nuts and SO good!

We also went to Sports Basement to get some Gu, and other little things for the race.

Tonight, we are heading to our Team In Training Inspiration dinner and I'm so excited. Our entire team will be there and we will get pumped for the race. Erik & I  raised OVER $4,000 for cancer and we are so excited for tomorrow. We've never run a race this big (25,000 runners!!) We know this course, know what to expect, and I am seriously excited for this run. It will be so great to cross that finish line!!

Wish Us Luck!!!

Whew!

This weekend, I felt something in Evie's leg - the one with the new knee. It was something small, moving around, and I immediately thought - oh crap, a screw came loose. I spent a good part of Sunday night googling "Loose screw TPLO Surgery" and saw that this CAN happen. I emailed the Vet and they called me on Monday AM.

They were able to get us in on Monday afternoon for a quick check. Evie was out of breath, sweating, panting, circling, and overall panicking at the Vet. Such a baby. We waited outside in the parking lot, in the sun, so she could walk around and relax.

We saw the Vet quick, he felt her leg and instantly said, "It's a suture knot" WHEW!!! Thank Goodness. All it is, is a little ball of stitches in her leg. I thought she bit a stitch out but maybe it came loose and slipped back into her leg. Ahhhhh! It's Ok though because it will just dissolve.

She was thrilled to get back in the car and truly relax at home. This is her around 4:30pm. She exhausted herself.
One week until we get the final x-rays and the "All Clear" from the doctor. Yippeeeeee!!

Fall Party

On Sunday, we went out to the East Bay to visit our friends for a Fall Party. Although it was about 75 degrees out, it was still a fun time. I made a pumpkin bean dip and low fat pumpkin bread. Both Deeeelish!
Kitchen Aid mixer = like having a robot on your counter doing the work for you
 The Ingredients
 Super Easy Dip!!

Found these super cute chips but....
Look at this crazy looking Dracula on the bag. hahaha

We chilled out at Tiffany's with a bunch of peeps on the back porch in the SUN and warmth! There was sooooo much food  - chilli, pumpkin apple soup, pumpkin bars, pumpkin beer, and the list goes on. We also brought Teen Witch and Hocus Pocus but didn't watch them.

FUN time. We heart "fall" :-)

Last TNT Run!

Friday was pretty mellow because we had our LAST TNT run on Saturday. Yep, the big race is on Sunday, 10/14!!! We had a delicious Salmon dinner and went to bed early.

We were up on Saturday at 6:30am and drove up to the Marina with Betsy & Greg. It was a beautiful morning - no fog, the sun was just coming up, so pretty!

The bridge was stuck under the fog!

Our coaches giving one last pre-run send off!!
Ok Fog, give the bridge back

Gorgeous. One of those days where you are like, I can't believe I live here!

Lots to look at this weekend - It was America's Cup & Fleet Week in the Marina

We are READY! One week to go and it's NIKE time. Erik and I are so happy to say that we raised $4,000 to fight cancer. Woohoo!!!!
After the run, we had brunch with Betsy & Greg at Radish - our fave breakfast spot. So delish. Erik hit the beach and I hit the couch after that. Haha. I think maybe I was dehydrated a little because I got a headache once we were home :-(

We stayed in on Saturday night. We had a big pasta & meatball dinner and watched Snow White and the Huntsmen.

Charlize Theron - very good. Kristen Stewart as Snow White - not so good. She must have had five lines in the entire movie!

Pizza Party

Wednesday was our LAST fundraiser for Team Luna at Patxi's Pizza. We planned this a few weeks ago just in case we need another push to get us to our fundraising goal. Guess what? We made our goal at our picnic!! WOohoo!!! After many long months of training and fundraising, we did it. We raised over $3,500 for cancer together!

Wednesday was still an awesome time and Patxi's is giving us 10% of sales for the ENTIRE DAY. How awesome is that!

My coworkers Bailey, Amy & Diane joined me at Patxi's for dinner and drinks. Erik, Betsy, and Greg came down after work, too! It was a great dinner and fun to get everyone together. Surprisingly for a Tuesday night, Patxi's was pretty busy. We don't have our final total yet but anything we earned at Patxi's was icing on the cake.

We are thrilled to have met our goal. We definitely worked hard together on this and achieved our goal - in both running and fundraising. We are pretty excited for our race - we know the course, know what to expect, and feel ready. Two weeks to go!!

Hot Tuesday

Tuesday was SO hot - we are talking 80-90 in the city. I was sweating on the bus ride home and was able to walk home in my skirt without being cold. Usually, the fog is here and I'm cold for those few blocks home. So - it was really wonderful being WARM!

Erik had hockey on Tuesday night at 8pm so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity for Betsy & I go to out to enjoy the weather. I went out in a summer dress, at 7:30pm, which is unheard of for SF! We walked a few blocks to Tsunami Sushi. We had a delicious dinner and then went outside for a glass of wine.

Tsunami is next to this little bar, Corkage, that has outdoor seating.  The outdoor seating was packed due to the warm weather!

Fun Tuesday night - good friend, warm weather, sushi, drinks outside!

Evie Update

Here is our Evie May on Sunday, cuddling with me on the couch. She loves to wedge herself in between me and the couch. It's pretty funny because she will throw one arm over you and really get comfortable.

We have about two weeks to go until our next appointment at the Vet. At this appointment, she will get another set of x-rays to get her leg checked out. It's really creepy but you can FEEL the plate/screw thing in her leg. Eeeeeekkkkk!

Fingers crossed that everything looks good and she is cleared to live her normal life again. She is walking really well, trotting around, and of course NOT wanting us to pick her up anymore. She is starting to wiggle around when you pick her up which of course ups the risk of me dropping her but haven't done that yet.

Cannot wait to bring her on a long walk, someplace to RUN, and of course, to camp. I let camp know how she is doing and they actually said they miss her! Awwwwww...
