We haven't had a Crazy of the Day in a while and this one comes directly from Erik.

Yes, he saw a man dressed as Chewbacca on his way to work. The best part? A guy went up to take his picture, he looked at him, and gave him the "Chewy Growl".

I haven't posted one of these in awhile but I have to share this one!!

Saturday, I was getting ready to leave our apt and walk Evie. I looked out the window to our main door first because I saw a guy looking in a car window in front of our building. Then, I took a good look at him.

He had on:

• Gray/White fur pants (looked like he skinned a wolf)
• A Black Blazer
• And, he was looking in the car window to.....

Attach horns to his forehead. (Just like the picture). Unbelievable.

And, yes, they convened publically to smoke, a lot.

The bodies of a Walnut Creek woman and her son were found on Friday at the top of Mount Diablo. Their deaths appears to be the result of a mother-son murder-suicide. Judith Williams, 51, and her son Adam, 16, were found by authorities late last week after the two went for a hike. According to NBC Bay Area/Bay Area News, the scene looked premeditated as well. "They were there for several hours before Judith Williams apparently shot her son in the chest and the head and then shot herself in the head," NBC reports. Andy, it seems, was also very popular at his high school: played on the football team, played the saxophone. Also, the mom "appeared to have been having some financial problems and was upset about issues in a relationship between her ex-husband, Adam's father, and his new wife," which might have led to her snapping

If you've ever been to SF, you may have seen this guy - the cat, rat, dog guy. Weird. The owner of these fine animals is Gregory Pike. He was brought to court & fined for causing obstruction on the street for people stopping to look at this.

Now, he's leaving town. Pike said he was fined $236 by a San Francisco Superior Court judge for the public-obstruction charge, which was filed several months ago. He said he does not plan to pay up. Said Pike after the ruling, "Is it illegal to be so good at what you do that you draw a big crowd?" He added, "That doesn't sound right."

Pike has trained a rat to stand on top of a cat that stands on top of a dog. (The animals' names are Mousey, Kitty, and Booger, respectively.)

Because CA needs money.....

While not all out advocating the legalization of marijuana, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said it's time for California to "study whether to legalize and tax marijuana for recreational use." today, according to the Sacramento Bee. When asked about a Field Poll showing that a majority of Californians support legalizing and taxing mary jane to raise revenues for economically-strapped California, Arnold had this to say:

Well, I think it's not time for that, but I think it's time for a debate ... I think all of those ideas of creating extra revenues, I'm always for an open debate on it. And I think we ought to study very carefully what other countries are doing that have legalized marijuana and other drugs, what effect did it have on those countries?

Windy much? This fishing trawler got blown into, and under the San Mateo Bridge on Tuesday night and, uh, it's still there. After this morning's commute they're planning to close a lane and finally yank the poor little thing out of there. Meanwhile, it may be leaking 4,000 gallons of diesel fuel into the bay.

Strong northerly winds will continue the rest of this afternoon and evening across most of the San Francisco and Monterey Bay region. Wind gusts between 45 and 50 mph have been reported along the Sonoma and Marin coastline with similar gusts along the San Mateo coast. At San Francisco Airport wind gusts to 41 mph were reported just before noon

Northerly wind gusts to 45 mph will be possible across the advisory area but the strongest winds are expected to be near the coast and in the hills above 1000 feet. These wind gusts will be strong enough to bring down power lines... small branches and weak trees.

After possibly a long night of carousing, a Muni passenger stepped off the 91-Owl bus at 4 a.m. Sunday morning at the corner of Francisco and Richardson and became somehow trapped (caught in an infamous back door?) and dragged under the bus for a block or so. The man's condition is not known, however he apparently suffered burns to his body but no broken bones or major head injuries. The Muni driver was taken off duty and tested for alcohol and drugs, "in accordance with standard protocol."

A TV show pilot is being filmed here and they did an explosion scene on the highway.

San Francisco residents by the dozens gathered from various vantage points in the city to watch the filming of the made-for-TV tanker-trailer explosion, which was supposed to happen at 3 p.m. but didn't go off until moments before 6 p.m., on the King Street off-ramp to northbound Interstate 280 near Mission Bay. The body of a 44-year-old man was discovered inside a bathroom at the San Francisco Bloomingdale's complex on Friday. Patrick Callahan, who was homeless, "was found in the morning when employees opened the store," according to AP. While the exact cause of death has yet to be revealed, "investigators are also trying to determine if Callahan broke into the store and hid out in the bathroom, or if he was there before the store closed and fell unconscious." A Bloomingdale's spokeswoman described Callahan's death as "very sad."

CA to Release Thousands of Prisoners

In an effort to ease prison overcrowding, a panel of federal judges "tentatively ruled that California must release tens of thousands of inmates." (Please release Susan Atkins! Please release Susan Atkins! Please release Susan Atkins!) Though a hard number will be decided on later, the plan is to significantly reduce the numbers of inmates in two to three years. According to AP, the judges went on to say that "no other solution will improve conditions so poor that inmates die regularly of suicides or lack of proper care." Released prisoners will be of the low-risk variety.

Why have Coit Tower, the Ferry Building, and City Hall literally turned green? According to SF Citizen, it's in honor of the third return of the popular Stephen Scwartz musical Wicked. The "untold story of the witches of Oz" is based off of the popular book by Gregory Maguire novel. The musical version got its start here in San Francisco when it made its out-of-town premiere at the Currran many moons ago, and went off to New York to win several Tony Awards and gain a rabid cult following from enraptured fangirls.

SF Bomb Squad Detonates Suspicious Package

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – Authorities with the the San Francisco bomb squad say a suspicious package found near the Chinese Consulate has been detonated.

Officers on the scene tell KRON 4 the package was found outside the consulate around 5 p.m. Friday. The area was cordoned off and there were no evacuations.

The consulate is located at the corner of Geary and Laguna. During the investigation those streets were closed in both directions for several blocks.

Today's crazy item is not a someone but an event. Here in SF, we have a street named Bush St. Well, some people thought it would be a good idea to rename those streets Obama St since the Bush era is over!

I am thinking of posting a new series 'Crazy of the Day' for all of the crazy things I see happen here.

Here are 2 to start you off:

1. Today - A very buff man wearing fringe chaps, an open button down shirt, wearing a cowboy hat, and holding an American flag. Posing with the flag by a tree in the park while his 'friend' takes his picture. My guess is they are a gay couple and he is submitting him for some contest.

2. A few days ago - A man sleeping in a tree. It is a cool tree that has a cave in the trunk. One morning, I saw there was a sheet hanging over the opening to the tree trunk & yep, someone was sleeping in there!
