NYC

Here are a few pics from NYC. Marla & I went down for 2 days to see Jessica. We tried to see a show but Mary Poppins wasn't available at 50% off during the time that we wanted. Instead, we went to SOHO, out for drinks, lunch, and hit up Strand book store. It was good to all be together again.

We're Back!

We flew back to SF today. We left NYC at 7am and got home at 10am. I think it is funny how you gain so much time flying west. We had a good time on the EC. I have a lot of pictures to post from the wedding, to NYC, to Yankees, and fun with Friends & Family.

Unfortunately, I feel horrible. Like I have the flu. It's strange. It better end like, tonight.

Anyway, I don't know if you all have heard of Randy Pausch - the professor from Carnegie Mellon who gave the moving speech 'Last Lecture'. He passed away yesterday. He is extremely inspirational. Check out his 'Last Lecture' below. Also, you can see his interviews with Diane Sawyer on Abc.com.

Heading East

Tomorrow morning at 7am, we are heading to the east coast. We will be in Boston for a wedding and then spending the week in CT and NYC. Bye!

My gym has a POOL

Um, just found out that one of my gyms has a pool. I belong to 24 Hour Fitness which means there are like 50 gyms in this city but one of them has a little 3 lane pool. It happens to be the one next to Evie's Petco. How convenient!! Now, if I do the TRI, I dont have to join the Y.

Facebook

Few things about Facebook. I am a fan because you can keep in touch with people you totally have not spoken to in years. And, by keep in touch, I mean look at their news feed and pictures to see what they are up to.

However, I also think Facebook is sort of strange in the fact that they have the 'status updates'. Now, some people put what they are doing every second of the day. 'going to lunch' 'hanging with tony'. Whatever - if you have the time and want people to know where you are, go for it.

What I do think is strange when people are on VACATION and do it. 'At the Eiffel Tower', 'Heading to Rio', 'Chillin on the beaches of Mexico'. I mean - you're on vacation! Leave the computer at home.

Scooter Envy

I just went to Petco with Evie and now have Scooter Envy. I saw this girl on this cute yellow scooter.


I wanted a Vespa a few years ago but it wasn't practical because I couldn't drive it on the highway to work. However, now that I am in the city, maybe its time to re-think. I mean, how cute are these scooters. They are only about $1,000!

Plus, I could get these awesome bug goggles.

Hate my clothes

Do you ever hate everything you own for clothes? Like, you go to the closet, stand there and say, I have nothing to wear. This AM, I wanted to wear a dress. I tried on 4 dresses and hated all of them. Then, the one I wore - yep, I hated it. I hated it all day.

I bought this cute dress just last year, and now, i hate it. its going on ebay. I dont know why I've been holding onto these clothes if I dont wear them and apparently - hate them.

It was annoying this morning though trying to find something to wear. It's freezing here right now. Windy, 60, foggy. Hello, Summer.

Dog Owners Update

I made progress today! This morning I introduced myself to Wasabii's dad (harry) and Kita's mom(Emily). Yippee. I now know all of Evie's friends parents. (Isn't that sick I just called her DOG pals 'friends')

This morning, Evie played with Wasabii. They love each other. Evie just rolls over while Wasabii bites her legs, face, ears. When Wasabii had to leave, Evie was trying to pull me down the park. She didn't want Wasabii to leave. Wasabii kept turning around to look at Evie and she laid down. It was funny but they were both sad girls. I have to bring my camera out to take a picture of them together.

Oh and I am going to miss Evie like crazy when we are gone next week. Thankfully, Erik is bringing her to camp tomorrow. If I did it, I would probably be crying. I know, how ridiculous!

Tri?

This showed up in my inbox today. I am considering doing a TRI with TNT next spring. This one is in September. That means I would only have about 2 mos to train for this. Its short distances but I am concerned about the open water swim and the bike, since I don't have one out here.

I have to think about this one. And, see if I am in a contract with the gym or if I can easily switch to the Y....Plus, I am going to sign up for the San Jose Half Marathon in Oct.

This does seem like a good Tri though...I will be looking into it! Scary!

Dog Owners

So I know every dog's name in the park but know about 3 dog owners names. Its ridiculous. When a new dog & owner come to the park the owner says, 'This is Pookie' and everyone says their dog names but not their own!

I seriously stand out there for 30 mins with this one guy and his dog(Wasabii) and do not know his name. I know where he works. I know where he's going on vacation. I do not know his name.

I did meet a new dog AND his owner the other day but she introduced herself to me.

So, I'm going to make it a point to ask everyone their name. But, now I feel really weird about asking their name. However, tonight this one guy we see ALL the time introduced himself to me. It seems stupid to feel weird to ask someones name after all of this time. Maybe they feel weird too so they will be happy when I ask their name.


This is Evie a few mos after she came to the shelter in early 2007. She had to wear a tshirt because her hair was just growing in. Doesn't she look SO different!?

Post Secret

There is this site and book called 'Post Secret' where people literally write their 'secrets' on a post card & send them in. I guess they feel better saying their 'secret' once they write & send it anonymously. Some of them are funny and some of them are sad. I don't really like them because they are sometimes really strange or about serious things like abuse. The funny ones though are sometimes really the strangest of all.

Anyway, the site was linked to a site I was on so I clicked on it. Look at this 'secret' below - its funny.

I had to blog about something so that I wouldn't see those ugly baby dolls when I went to the site. I think I need like 10 posts to get them off the first page of the site because I posted so many of them.

Last night, I made this gross dinner. Now, I like to cook but I will admit when it sucks. Last night - it sucked. It was a recipe from Women's Health mag - white bean salad with quinoa. I had to chop up zuccinni, red peppers, garlic, scallions, and cook it all with white beans. Then mix it with quinoa. It was so dry & tasted like nothing. It needed a sauce or something on it. Or cheese. I find cheese fixes most recipe problems.

So, I had peanut butter & Jelly and it tasted great. Much better than the dry bean salad. Ick!

I just saw these dolls in the Better Homes & Gardens magazine. Are they weird or what!??
They are only 6" long....

But, then I saw some others on the site. Now, I am just wondering - who buys these and WHAT do they do with them? Do people actually think these things are cute?

Burned my tongue

Kraft Foods sometimes sends me surveys to do about food & they also send me coupons to try products for free. Today, I tried the DiGiorno Pizza for One. It was pretty good but I definitely burned my tongue on it. Probably because I was trying to eat it straight out of the microwave.

Anyway - It was ok but not that great for you. It had like 700 calories which is a lot for a lunch. So, I probably wouldn't buy this again but it tasted much better than the Lean Cuisine pizzas. Those things are like cardboard.
