Antsy Sunday

Our weather on Sunday was crazy, again. It was rainy/cloudy/cold/sunny/warm - repeat. It does look like the rest of the week will be nice though - fingers crossed!

On Sunday, Evie and I took a drive down to the mall to go to Target and New York & Co. First of all, the mall was packed with kids. Apparently, there was a 'Camp Fair' for kids to sign up for summer camp.

First, I went to NY & Co where everything was Buy One, Get one 50% off. As you know, I'm starting the new job next week. Get this - my first two days at work will be in Ohio with the Clients. The team is going to be out there for meetings already and asked me to come out to meet the Clients. Guess I really am just jumping right in! I wanted to see if I could get a new outfit for the trip and I did! Especially with that kind of sale, it was a great find.

After trying on clothes and being in that packed mall, I made a beeline for Target. Target now has the grocery store inside of it - what a nightmare. The aisles were just jammed up with carts as everyone was clammoring for the cheese and yogurt. I grabbed the two things I needed and made a run for it.

Erik also made rolls yesterday & we had them with our turkey burgers for dinner.




Look how big his burger was. haha. He definitely had to flatten this out before attempting to eat! It was so good though.

We finished Season 1 of Dexter last night. We stayed up until 1230am watching the final episode. So crazy. haha Now, we can't wait to watch Season 2. Thank God they are on Instant Watch. We are going to have to buy Season 3 and 4 on DVD or something since they are not on IW.

Well, here we go into my last week at work!

I want pizza!

This weekend, I felt really antsy but we really didn't do much. I feel antsy because my last week of work is coming up, we are going away next weekend, then I start my new job & Erik goes on vacation to Mexico. It's just a lot coming up. I feel like we are chugging up the hill on a roller coaster and waiting to go down. So, I guess the weekend was good to really do nothing since a lot of stuff is going to come up.

Anyway, on Saturday, we were going to go to this 'Underground Market' where local food vendors would be selling their goods. We were excited to go and try local foods. There were going to be bands there, too. We pull up in the cab and see a line dowwwwnnnn the block. Unreal. We were all like, we don't want to go to this thing that bad! hah.

Instead, we went to Pauline's Pizza which was so yummy! We went with Betsy & Greg so we ordered two different pizzas to share. We split the garden salad, then we had a Veggie pizza and their signature pesto pizza. We also had a bottle of Pauline's Wine - they make their own! PLUS, we had dessert of butterscotch pudding. It was good but, it was no match to the one at Market in Napa!

After that, we went to Zeitgeist for a drink but everyone was so full. Fun night to a chill day!

In other pizza news, we found this ridiculous video on YouTube which is hilarious but makes you wonder, who found this video & created this!?

Dexter

On Friday night, we stayed in for a chill night. We ordered dinner in and also watched Dexter. Dexter is a show on Showtime(in its 6th season) about a crime analyst in the Miami PD who has a secret life as a killer. He kills bad guys who slip through the cracks. So, he is a bad guy taking care of bad guys? Or is he a good guy? All I know is that the show is addicting and I cannot stop watching now.

Plus, Dexter is so cute! He doesn't look like a killer! haha
The show is on instant watch on Netflix and on DVD. Season 6 starts sometime in 2011.

Less than a week....

....to go at my current job! I can't believe it. Last night, we went out as a team because our Director was in town. We went to Rickhouse for drinks and then to Mikaku for sushi. It was fun to hang out and just chill out.



It was NOT raining this morning- I couldn't believe it. It did hail this AM though. On our walk this morning, we saw hail on the ground which is so strange! I'm sure by the time I leave work, it will be raining. Thankfully, it is supposed to clear up by Sunday! Yippee! Then, look at next week's wonderful weather.

We miss you, Sun

Could it really be?? Sun in the forecast?? It feels like it has been raining for a month straight!

I am so proud of Miss Evie for going out in the rain. As you know, we had to drive her to GG Park to go the bathroom some rainy days. Well, I really have no patience for that so I tried something else. Having an irresistable treat in my pocket to give her after each time she goes potty. She will endure the rain for a piece of chicken or cheese. It's really ridiculous to watch me out there with the food in hand saying potty a million times but it works!

(Mommy - Please don't make me go out there. I like to be warm & cuddly coo in the house)

Cute Dress

I am in love with this dress. I think its cute & quirky. This dress is also a Lilly Pulitzer(The Jonah Dress Posh Ponte) so you know it is $$. I have found it on sale but I still can't get myself to buy it.

I love Lilly dresses but they are always so country club looking and not really work appropriate. This one is a different style dress and I think its more wearable than the traditional Lilly.

I will probably keep looking to see if I can find it cheaper to justify buying it!

Back to Work

Today started off by Evie and I waking up to SUN! We went outside for our walk, made it to Alamo Square and then, it started to...POUR! I did not have my raincoat on either. It was raining so hard, like the type of rain where you can't see and raindrops are on your eyes and dripping down your face. It was pretty funny. We started to jog home and then I thought, we're already soaked so what is the point! Without a doubt, every time it is rainy out & we go to Alamo Sq, it rains on us.

Today was a day of chores & getting back on the schedule. Erik bottled beer and I watched some DVR shows. The sun DID come out again so I was able to walk Evie again and take a long walk. I also did a ton of laundry today and we just got everything organized for the week.

The next two weeks are going to be sort of strange at work. It's like you still need to do your work but other people have to start doing it too so that it's not a total changeover when you leave. Oh well.....Here's to staying dry this week!!

Saturday

On Saturday, it was raining...again. First, we went to The Grind for brunch. Then, we headed out to Ocean Beach to show Jaime & Laura the Sutro Baths and the beach. Then, we drove up and over the GG Bridge for a shot near the bridge. Then, we decided to do something funny - drive up to find George Lucas' house aka Skywalker Ranch. His house is on Lucas Valley Road - how nicely named!

We drove about another 30 min up north and got to his house. I don't have the pics but will have to share them when I get them. You basically cannot see anything but a big fence and security cameras. Apparently, this is what it looks like behind the gates and long driveway.


What was really funny was as we were turning around in the driveway, a big, black, Escalade came out of the gates.

Of course, we were convinced it was George Lucas going somewhere. hahaha Can you even imagine if it was really him & we caught a glimpse of him?? I know two guys who would have had a heart attack right there & died on the spot!


After our adventure, we came back to SF and went over to the Presidio where we checked out the Yoda statue. Then, we ended the trip by going to Fly Bar for some beers and appetizers. We finally had to leave around 9pm to bring Jaime and Laura to the airport. We were sad to see them go! We had so much fun together. Evie will also miss them...she looooved them!

Last Week

Last week was very fun & eventful - I got a new job and Jaime & Laura were here all week! On Monday, we got Little Chihuahua for dinner and watched The Bachelor Finale. On Tuesday, we went for pizza at Little Star. On Wednesday, we went down to Hayes Valley for wonderful sushi at Domo. While we waited, we had a glass of wine at a new little bar down there called Mazzat. The sushi was perfect - as it usually is.

Thursday was St. Patrick's Day! First, I went out with co-worker for a drink near our work. Then, came home and we went to Nickie's for a few drinks and then to Metro Caffe for those amazing cheesesteaks.

On Friday, we went to Napa. It was POURING rain most of the day but bad weather doesn't stop you from wine tasting! We dropped Evie off at camp before heading up to Napa. Look at this crazy girl who was sitting on the floor in the back seat of the car-



First up, we stopped at V.Sattui just because its a cheap tasting and we were eager to get out of the house. Then, we went to Farmstead for lunch. This is a relatively new restaurant in the area. Everything is local and seasonal.



They had these AMAZING Cheddar biscuits with honey butter.
After lunch, we went to Hall Winery. We ALL loved this $100 bottle of Cabernet but didn't purchase any.




Then, we moved onto Freemark Abbey. Loved their chardonnay.





Last stop, Merryvale which ended up really being a photo op. After that, we headed home.

It's Official: I have a new job!

As I mentioned, some stuff has been going on with work over the past few weeks. That "stuff" is that I have been interviewing for a new position. I have been with my company for six years and was feeling like it was time for a change. I am happy to report that I received an offer for the company I really loved and am truly excited to join the team. I accepted the position today and start in a few weeks.

It will be hard to leave my current company and co-workers but I KNOW this is the right thing for my career and next stage of my life. I'm so excited!!

Are we in Seattle?

Well after a gorgeous January, we are getting our dose of rain right now. It's warm and muggy out. You know that weather where you get that nice layer of frizz on your hair and your skin is clammy? Ick.


Jaime & Laura are out here right now visiting us. Evie is loving having new buddies to play with.

So far, we have had Little Chihuahua takeout and brought them to Little Star for pizza. Not sure what we are up to the rest of the week but on Friday, we are going to...Napa! Can't wait. We haven't been since Engagement Day!

Movie Review: You Don't Know Jack

This weekend, we watched "You Don't Know Jack" with Al Pacino and Susan Sarandon.

It was a movie about the life and work of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. Al Pacino played him and Susan Sarandon played a friend of Jack. The movie showed how Jack started to help people with 'mercy suicide' and eventually, how he ended up in jail.

I thought this movie was interesting to see the back story to how the Dr. began doing this & how everyone viewed him. Jack was a very smart guy. It was interesting to see the patients side and the court battles. I definitely saw Jack's view of things. He never actually did anything to any patients - he set everything up for them to end things on their own time. His big mistake was every administering the drugs to someone - that is what really sent him to court.

Oh well, I know this topic is highly debatable but the movie was interesting. I watched the Behind the Scenes section of the DVD too and saw Jack talking. I think Pacino did a tremendous job playing him & deserved the awards he received this year.

Erik's Birthday Sharks Game

Last night, we went to the SJ Sharks and Rangers hockey game down in San Jose. First, we met up with Erik's friends Casey & Kevin at The Poor House, a New Orleans style bar & restaurant.



Yum - Po Boys! The BBQ Chicken Po Boy was sooo spicy & delicious! We had a side of cajun fries.


They even had beignets on the menu which were delish


I've never been down to HP Pavillion but it is a cool stadium

I was really surprised how dedicated the Sharks fans are. Almost everyone there had a Sharks jersey on and they CHEER loudly. Very different from other sports & teams including going to see the Rangers at MSG.




When the Sharks score on a power play, everyone does this thing with their arms like they are a shark chomping. It was really funny to watch everyone do this. haha

Rangers Win 3-2!! The Sharks fans were NOT happy but the few Rangers fans that were there were.

After the game, we went to a bar called The Brit.

You know it's going to get rowdy when the shots come out. Thankfully, as the DD with a 45 min drive home, I did NOT partake!

It was a really fun night & everyone had fun. The Birthday Boy had a LOT of fun. haha. This concludes Erik's birthday week as he welcomed in a new year!

Tonight, Erik's brother and his girlfriend arrive & they are on vacation out here all week.

Erik's Birthday!

Yesterday was Erik's birthday! To celebrate, we went to the Pacific Brewing Labratories aka the garage of the guys who make their own home brew. Remember we went there back in June and had a little toooooo much fun? haha Here's a pic from their blog to show you what the garage looks like:


After that, we headed home and had dinner from Little Chihuahua. Erik opened his presents and he got an Ice Cream Maker, Recipe book, and Sharks/Rangers tickets from me! Evie even helped him open his gifts.

Busy Week & Dog Walker

This week has been so busy & stressful so that is why I have not posted anything all week. There is a lot of stuff going on at work and with work and it's just super busy and stressful. We literally come home from work, make dinner, struggle to stay awake to watch a tv show or hockey game, and go to bed. Annnd, no, we are not 75 yrs old. I don't know HOW people have children that you have to pay attention to and feed and bathe plus take care of yourselves!


Anyway, we met with a dog walker this week. She owns Mighty Dog and focuses on Pit Bulls! We found her after we went to that Pit Bull party because her company was a sponsor. She is pretty cool and has a knack for dealing with 'problem dogs'. She met Evie, who of course hid from her at first. Evie is like a shy child on her first day of school. She sits near me and hides her face - it is ridiculous! haha After about 15 min, she brought Lauren her toy and was totally fine. Lauren even said, she doesn't seem like a problem dog to me and she is not the spawn of the devil. haha.

So, we might try having Evie walked 2x a week to start off. She will get a private walk and may move up to 'small group' walks which would be great for her to get out of the house!

Erik is the big 32 today!! We are going to celebrate this weekend by going to the Rangers & Sharks hockey game!

Weekend

On Friday we went down to Nickie's, a local bar, for a beer and ended up having dinner there.


On Saturday, we went to look at an apartment. We loved it but noticed the guy had a STACK of applications for the place. We are going to put ours in & see what happens. The rent is great, the exact location we want to live, and is bigger than our current place. It would be awesome to live there!

On Saturday night, we went out for our friend Tiffany's birthday. We went to Tacolicious and had awesome queso, guac, tacos, and Tecate. Soooo yummy! I also brought cupcakes from Kara's (my fave!!) for everyone so that was a great finish to dinner.

After that, we stopped at The Tipsy Pig for a drink and once it got too crowded, we moved to Bin 38 wine bar. I haven't been to Bin 38 since my birthday last year when Erik and I went there for my birthday but it was great.

Wacky Week

After getting home at 10pm on Sunday night, the whole week seems off. This always happens when we are not home on Sunday to 'get organized' for the week. On Monday, I had to volunteer so Erik picked Evie up at camp after work.

Tuesday night, I was SO tired. I cam home and laid on the couch and watched the Bachelor on DVR. Even Evie climbed on the couch to snuggle at like 7pm. We had nachos for dinner, which is really not something we'd ever eat for dinner unless we were at a bar!haha

Tonight, we had a work dinner at Kokkari. It is a Meditteranean restaurant that is a top spot in the city. While it was a nice dinner, I didn't think it was amaaaazing. We shared some apps that included:
-Saghanaki - pan fried Kefalograviera cheese with lemon & oregano
-Melitzanosalata, Taramosalata, Tzatziki, Favosalata or Tirosalata
with housemade grilled pita (Basically pita's with different sauces)

For dinner, I had a wonderful ravioli. It was soooo good - Makaronia - ravioli of roasted butternut squash & feta with mushrooms, brown butter & toasted hazelnuts

I think I would go back and get that ravioli. It was a nice atmosphere and great food. We did feel a little rushed at the end of the dinner to leave our table though. Overall, a great dinner!
