Homemade Pasta & Evie's Party

We had a delicious dinner tonight of home made pasta and THIS awesome bread. 

 This bread is cheddar garlic bread that Erik picked up at the Farmer's Market. 

Oh yes. Hunks of garlic. So good...

We brought out the KitchenAid attachment to make pasta...

So easy, so good!

After dinner, we celebrated Evie's 7th birthday. Although it was a few weeks ago, we waited to celebrate until Kimmy was here. Here is Evie in her birthday crown--

She got a TUFF Toy that looks like a lizard which she promptly started playing with

 Ahhh. After the "party", we had to bring Kimmy back to the airport. Fun visit of a mix of doing fun stuff and lounging. Hopefully she will be back soon for work in a few months!

Holly Park

 Today we ventured over to Bernal Heights neighborhood to Holly Park. We haven't been to this park yet so we drove over to check it out.

We saw some great views from the top of the park

 It was a beautiful, clear day. It was in the 50's and so sunny! Check out that blue sky.

We went home and did what we do best. Ate lunch and lounged. Haha

 Evie promptly PASSED OUT. You know it's a good walk when she needs a nap afterwards!

Berkeley Saturday & More Beer Week

 We started our Saturday by going over to Berkeley to show Erik that new place I saw on Thursday. There was an Open House taking place and Erik was able to see the apartment. We officially applied to the apartment so we'll see what happens!!!

This place is very close to Shattuck and University Avenue which are two streets FILLED with restaurants, shops, bars, etc. First stop. Pick up a smoothie for Erik. We strolled Shattuck Ave to check out the neighborhood. The street was lively, packed with people, and we found some places that looked amazing. One was a place called the "Cheese Board" which is a cheese/bakery/pizza place that has been around since the 70's. It smelled amazing inside and I did say, "so this is what heaven smells like" haha.

We came back to SF and hit up a fave spot - Java Beach, for a late lunch. Then, we went home to lounge for a little while before heading out. We were ALL on the couch and the sun was shining right in our face from the kitchen window. We were dying laughing because we couldn't see and no one would get up to change the blind.

Evie was loving up on Kimmy. She was SO excited she was here!

We got off our butts and went out to Zeitgeist for a Beer Week Event. But first, a shot with Jason Bateman...

First stop - Zeitgeist for some beers on the patio. 

My take on Beer Week is that it is the PERFECT place for single girls to meet a guy. Tons of guys are going  to these things with their friends....no girls in sight.

We stopped at an old favorite for cheesesteaks before continuing on....

We seem to always go to Toronado when Kimmy is in town. We went here for ONE drink since it was soooo packed for Beer Week. 

Last stop, Danny Coyle's. Haven't been here in awhile! Much different vibe here - more of a mixed crowd and a jute box! 

  Fun night. We tried to come home and watch Portlandia but we all fell asleep on the couch. Kimmy so nicely captured the moment....

SF Beer Week Kickoff

We kicked off the weekend by attending the opening ceremonies of 2013 SF Beer Week. We went to a convention center in SF where a TON of breweries were there with tastings of their beers. 

 There were breweries from all over the bay area. 

 Erik had some great beers including Auburn IPA. Heretic Red Ale, and Heretic Evil Twin. He tried a bacon brown ale, too! There were a LOT of IPA's, Porters, Brown Ale, etc.

 There were a lot of food vendors there. Something we haven't seen at other beer festivals! We had some awesome chicken sliders. 

 I found a Pilsner and a Saison that I really liked. the Saison was made with Semillion grapes, similar to what you may find in a white wine. It was so good!

After the Beer Festival, we went to down to SFO to pick up Kimmy! Yay! Great start to the weekend.

We always seem to celebrate Evie's birthday when Kimmy is around. We held off on the birthday party until this weekend so we will celebrate Evie's 7th!

Can't wait to tell Evie who is coming to visit her. She gets so excited when she hears Kimmy's name. She will perk her ears up and look at the door. Too funny.

Berkeley & Belvita

Today, I went to check out an apartment in Berkeley. It is in a duplex and it was pretty nice! It  was THREE Bedroom with a free parking spot, free laundry, and a little FENCED area to ourselves. Um, that sounds like a castle! Amazing what five years in a tiny apartment in the city will make you think is a big deal!

Wanted to share my new favorite product.....Belvita! These are really awesome because they are whole grain, no HFCS, and provide energy. They are billed as breakfast bars but I think they are delish around that 10am mark or the 4pm before dinner mark. I bought the Blueberry and Cinnamon last week and both were SO good. Eat with some milk on the side.....so good!

For dinner tonight, we made pizza. Had some wine, too, which reminds me of one of my favorite prints:

We did not have "really good" wine tonight but Cannonball is pretty good!

So happy tomorrow is Friday. This week was so busy but we have a fun weekend ahead. Beer Festival tomorrow and Sissy arrives. Wahooooooo!!

Cheesecake Date

Today was a pretty busy day at work but it ended with dinner with friends. My friends Nicole, Sarah, and I went out to dinner together at.....The Cheesecake Factory! We have so much fun when we get together so dinner was of so much fun. 

We were talking one day about "chain" restaurants. We don't have too many IN SF such as Applebee's, Outback, TGI Fridays, etc. We do have fast food like McDonald's, Burger King, In & Out. We were talking about which chain restaurants we like and said we should go on a "Chain Date" to different restaurants so we each picked one. Mine was Cheesecake and I think the next one might be Outback. haha

I do not care for Cheesecake at all. However....I will have a few bites of Snickers cheesecake only when I go to the Cheesecake Factory. I got a piece to go and it was so good!Just a few bites is all you need. With all of our amazing restaurants in SF, it was pretty funny to go to Cheesecake but it is always delicious!

Top 5 Tuesday

It's Tuesday and just like last week, here are the Top 5 things of the week so far:

1. I feel about 85% better!!!!! I'm off the Day/Night Quil rotation and can BREATHE!

2. Have dinner plans tomorrow with two good friends. Yay!

3. Got a suuuuper cute top that I can't wait to wear this week

4. We have tickets to the opening of Beer Week here in SF on Friday

5. KIMMY is coming to visit on Friday. Wahoooooooooooo!

Stick It

Got something fun in the mail today...a free shirt from Stick It Wear!

We found Stick It Wear when we went to a tennis tournament in Palm Springs a few years ago. The shirts are stick figures of tennis players. The one above is of Rafa Nadal. I got the free shirt because *I Think* the only way to like the company on Facebook a few years ago was to like the maker of the shirts. So, I did and and they offered me a free shirt. Woohoo!

After work today, I joined our Team at Sports Basement for a shoe clinic. While some people were meeting with the Podiatrist, another group did a core workout. I was also able to meet one of our Mentees which was great. 

Erik had a hockey game tonight so after dinner, it was just Evie and I chillin' out.  She was probably mad she had to stay home today, after having someone home with her most days last week due to both of our illnesses!

Anyone else a tennis fan? 

On the Mend

I think I'm finally starting to feel better. Wahoooo! Too bad half of my office is sick now though. Our office is so small that when three people said they would be out today, the rest of us decided to work from home. Works for me. Evie was thrilled, of course.

She insists on sitting RIGHT next to me on the couch. Today she mushed her face up against me as she slept. Such a baby.

For dinner, I tried a recipe called Cheesy Baked Pasta and Vegetables. It was....bland. Bleh. Wouldn't make it again. I added crushed red pepper flakes to the dish and it helped but overall...blah. Did the job and was ooook.

One person liked licking the dish clean....

Back to the office tomorrow. We also have a clinic after work for Team In Training with our run team and a Podiatrist to help everyone choose shoes for the season tomorrow. After having that shoe/foot issue last season, I'm all set on shoes and knowing what model to buy. It will be great to meet some of the people we will be mentoring this season though!
