On Saturday, Erik and I tried a new workout - Crossfit. Crossfit is "the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide." Basically, you get worked.
There are a few Crossfit gyms in SF and we chose to go to LaLanne Fitness. Yes, the owner is like the grandson of 80's workout master, Jack LaLanne. We met with a ripped trainer who talked to us about what Crossfit is, how great it is, and took us through a workout. Basically, you will do so many different moves each time you come to the gym that you will never plateau and you will always be sore after a workout. We had to do a "sample workout" of rowing 500m, 40 squats, 30 sit ups, 20 pushups, and 10 pull ups....as fast as we could. Man, it was hard.
We walked out of there thinking, ummmm ok so that is what working out feels like. haha
Seriously, google "Crossfit: Before & After" and you will see some amazing transformations of people who do it regularly.
We might go back for the free class this Saturday & then we have to decide if we want to sign up. You get locked into a few months at a time and it is not inexpensive to do this type of training. I can see how it can be fun to do together and also how we will dread Saturdays because it means going to Crossfit....Still thinking about it.
Anyone tried Crossfit or have any stories from friends who do it?
