If I do the SJ Half:
-I will hate my life in September b/c I will be training
-I will be sore & have to go back to the chiro and or foot doctor
-I will have one more Half on my running resume(does that matter for anything?)
If I don't do it:
-I will waste the money I spent to join the FF team
-I will feel like a loser for signing up and not doing it
-My back and hips won't hurt
-I can do shorter runs like 5Ks and 10Ks including a 10K on 11/2 here in SF
OK, thoughts please. I need advice.

last summer i signed up for an olympic distance tri because i thought i could do it. but i just wasn't into it. this is supposed to be a fun hobby. don't abandon the running all together but if you're committed to doing shorter races and training for them, there's no reason to push yourself to a half marathon....my 2 cents.
i meant to include that i didn't end up doing the tri, but it was ok. i felt a little foolish and irritated that i wasted the sign up fee (which was like $90 or so) but i didn't kill myself trying to do something i wasn't ready for mentally even if i was physically able to do.
Heather, its not worth it if its not fun. Do the 5K's and 10K's if that's what you enjoy. If you don't so the 1/2 marathon, no one is going to call you a quitter. PLUS, do you really want to have to go to the doctors for your back and feet? If it hurts you, its not worth it. Like Tara said, there is no reason to push yourself to do something that you hate.
Try sprint Tri's too. They are alot of fun, if you want to switch it up a little. :)
